NIU Cares Day registration closes March 22

March 11, 2013

NIU Cares Day 2011Volunteer registration for NIU Cares Day 2013 will close Friday, March 22.

Students are encouraged to sign up as a volunteer team or by themselves (with Team-NIU Cares). A team can consist of members of a student organization, occupants of a residence hall floor, a group of friends or colleagues or more.

Registration is available online.

Each team’s leader must email niucaresday@niu.edu with contact information as well as the team’s name to have the team listed under the current team roster. More than 80 teams already have registered; your organization might already be listed.

On Saturday, April 20, students, faculty and staff members will participate in various community service projects throughout DeKalb County that will benefit not-for-profit community agencies as well as individual residents in need. Past partners have included the DeKalb Park District, the Salvation Army, T.A.I.L.S. Humane Society, District 428 schools and the DeKalb and Sycamore libraries.

Faculty and staff members are also encouraged to get involved with this annual event by working side-by-side with students in a team or as kick-off volunteers or project site leaders. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside students while helping the surrounding communities. Training will be provided prior to NIU Cares Day.
