Archaeologists to gather this weekend at NIU for forum on Andean, Amazonian ethnohistory

Part of a map of the Andes MountainsNIU will host the 41st annual Midwest Conference on Andean and Amazonian Archaeology and Ethnohistory this weekend.

The meeting will take place Saturday, Feb. 23, and Sunday, Feb. 24, in Cole Hall, recently remodeled to include the NIU Anthropology Museum.

In conjunction with the meeting, there will be an exhibit on Andean traditions; weekend hours have been extended to accommodate visitors.

The meeting has no registration fee.

Presentations will be made by professional archaeologists and advanced graduate students from across the Midwest along with colleagues from the United States and Latin America. Students are welcome to attend the meeting. Student volunteers from NIU will help with all aspects of the meeting and will be available to chat with students visiting from other campuses.
