University Council seeks input in annual review of ombudsperson Klaper, March 15 deadline set

As required by Section 19.4 of the NIU Bylaws, the NIU University Affairs Committee of the University Council is currently conducting its annual review of Ombudsperson Sarah Klaper.

Klaper has served as NIU Ombudsperson since August 2012.

The Office of the Ombudsperson at NIU was established by the University Council in 1969 to assist students, faculty and staff as a designated neutral party. Hundreds of individuals from all segments of the university consult confidentially with the ombudsperson each year.

All NIU students, faculty and staff are invited to provide information and comments regarding Klaper’s performance as the ombudsperson during the 2012-13 academic year. Comments should be submitted in writing to Ombudsperson Review, c/o Office of University Council, Altgeld Hall 103, by no later than Friday, March 15.

Absolute confidentiality will be maintained throughout the review process; only summaries of comments sent to the committee, with all identifying data deleted, will be included in the confidential report to the president. Anonymous comments will not be taken into consideration.
