The Office of Student Academic Success and the Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning are now accepting applications for the Northern Light Ambassadors program for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The program provides each undergraduate college with an elite body of students to assist with public relations, fund development, retention, engaged learning and special events. Students chosen for the program develop ongoing relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students and donors within their college and the university.
The Northern Light Ambassadors program showcases the exciting programs and opportunities available at NIU by using dedicated and talented students who help maintain the high standards of NIU.
Students applying for the Northern Light Ambassadors program must be sophomores, juniors, and seniors in good standing with a declared major within the college. Students must also have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and a demonstrated involvement in engaged learning activities.
This year’s Northern Light Ambassadors represented all six colleges. This year’s cohort worked with their college to assist open houses and college events. The Northern Light Ambassadors also work in committees to support Alumni Association, the NIU Foundation, Civic Engagement, the Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning, Admissions, and Orientation & First-Year Experience.
In addition, the 2012-2013 Northern Light Ambassadors are Research Rookies, Honors scholars, Undergraduate Research Assistants, Study Abroad participants, Community Advisers, Themed Learning Community Peer Leaders, Orientation Leaders, and Undergraduate Research and Artistry Day presenters.
