Northern Illinois head football coach Rod Carey will introduce his first signing class and his new assistant coaches at NIU’s 2013 Signing Day Reception.
All Huskie fans are invited to attend the event, scheduled Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the NIU Convocation Center prior to the men’s basketball game between NIU and Bowling Green.
It begins at 6 p.m. in the main lobby of the Convo.
Copies of written biographies detailing the signees’ high school accomplishments will be available. Members of the Huskie football coaching staff, including new additions Thad Ward, Roy Manning, Brett Diersen and Tim Polasek, will be stationed throughout the lobby area to talk to fans about the recruits.
In addition to the football staff, representatives of Northern Illinois’ men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s track and field/cross country programs will be on hand to discuss their 2013 signing classes. Fans will be able to mingle with the coaches, purchase food from the concession stand and hear directly from Carey.
Doors to the Convocation Center open at 6 p.m. and a basketball ticket is required for admission.
The game tips off at 7 p.m.; Huskie men’s basketball tickets are $10 for a reserved, lower bowl seat and $8 for general admission (upper bowl). Youth (eighth-grade and younger) and senior citizen (62 and older) general admission tickets are just $6. Northern Illinois students can attend any NIU regular season intercollegiate athletics event, including men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics and wrestling, free with a valid OneCard.
In addition to free admission to the basketball game and Signing Day Reception, each NIU student who attends will receive a free $10 gift card from Restaurant.com and a NCAA March Madness wristband while supplies last.
NIUHuskies.com, as well as NIU social media homes on Twitter (@NIUAthletics) and Facebook will have complete Signing Day coverage, including frequent updates, free live-streaming of the afternoon press conference, player bios and highlight videos and more.
