Community School offers group piano classes

Group Piano for Adults is for ages 18 and older and taught for two levels of players. Level 1 is for beginners. Level 2 is for those who have a good foundation on the instrument or for those who have taken Level 1. Students experience the joys and challenges of learning to play the piano.

Classes are taught in a group piano classroom and each student has the use of a keyboard. The classes meet on Monday evenings, beginning Jan. 28. Teacher Susan Breitner-Hurm has many years of teaching experience, both as a private and group piano teacher.

Piano Starter for Children is for ages 5 to 7 and is taught by experienced music educator and piano teacher Barbara Wirz-Ellsworth.

Children explore the piano in a fun, small-group setting .Students learn basic notes and position of keys and play simple tunes. This class is a good way for parents to determine if children are ready for private lessons. Space is limited to four students. Piano Starter meets from 4 to 4:40 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 5.

In addition to group piano classes, private and semi-private piano lessons are also available through the Community School.
