Geography to host Nov. 14 GIS Night event

3D map of the worldThe NIU Department of Geography invites the university community Wednesday, Nov. 14, to GIS Night.

The event is part of global GIS Day activities, where thousands of users of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) showcase real-world applications of this exciting technology to schools, businesses and the general public.

Visitors to Room 115 of Davis Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. will learn, explore and discover the world through GIS.

  • See many hands-on demonstrations of mapping technology.
  • Explore across the United States in 3D.
  • Experience the 3D Virtual Reality Lab.
  • Faculty/student projects and demonstrations.
  • Talk to NIU students, faculty and GIS professionals.

Davis Hall is located on Normal Road, diagonally across from the parking deck. Free parking is available on campus after 7 p.m.
