Student Involvement & Leadership Development is gearing up for NIU Cares Day 2013.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 20; however, plans are under way to convene the planning committee and to recruit volunteers to assist that day.
An NIU Cares Day kickoff and preview meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in Room 100 of the Campus Life Building.
Destiny McDonald, acting assistant director for Community Service, and chairs of the four sub-committees (Community Outreach, Campus Recruitment, Logistics and Fundraising) will share details of the 2013 event, including a quick history of the event as well as any changes that will be implemented for the new year.
Interested faculty and staff also can find out how they can get involved and support the event – from serving on the planning committee to volunteering on the day of the event to cleaning out their garages to find some items on the NIU Cares Day wish list.
Faculty and staff are essential to making NIU Cares Day a success because they help spread the word about the event and act as advocates for service to NIU students. SILD welcomes any new individuals who are looking for an opportunity to get involved behind the scenes and at the event to create a quality experience for student volunteers.
Faculty and staff who cannot make the meeting but still wish to participate in the planning process can contact McDonald at firstname.lastname@example.org or (815) 753-6511 by Friday, Nov. 30, with their interest.
