John R. Nay, U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Suriname, will visit NIU at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, to talk to students about international internships, fellowships and careers.

Nay will speak in Neptune Central Meeting Room 109 about U.S. Department of State-sponsored opportunities for students that can lead to promising international careers.

Programs offer intensive educational and experiential learning experiences, providing professional experience and personal growth and development within a foreign affairs environment.

Ambassador Nay earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Andrews University and an M.S. in National Security Strategy from National Defense University. During his Foreign Service career, including his tenure in Suriname, he has made a point of underlining the importance of protecting and strengthening human rights, democracy and freedom of the press.

Tuesday’s event is sponsored by Student Support Services. For more information, contact Cheronda Everett at (815) 753-1142 or ceverett1@niu.edu.
