The eastbound entrance and exit ramps at Annie Glidden Road will also close.

The bridge is scheduled to close at 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, and a detour will be put in place for drivers entering and exiting eastbound I-88. The detour will direct Annie Glidden Road traffic to Illinois Route 38 then south on Peace Road to reach the Peace Road Interchange at I-88.

Eastbound traffic exiting I-88 will be directed to exit at Peace Road, travel north to Illinois Route 38 and west to reach Annie Glidden Road.

Bridge work includes full-depth concrete pavement patching and replacement of the concrete protective barriers on the outside edges of the bridge. A full closure is necessary because the bridge is too narrow to accommodate two-way traffic while completing this work. Only traffic entering and exiting eastbound I-88 will be impacted by the closure. Annie Glidden Road traffic north of I-88 will not be impacted and the westbound ramps will remain open to traffic.

The I-88 Resurfacing Project between Illinois Route 56 in North Aurora and Illinois Route 251 in Rochelle is needed to provide a new, smooth surface and extend the life of the roadway along this 38-mile corridor. This portion of I-88 opened to traffic in 1974 and was last rehabilitated in 2001. The $60.1 million project is scheduled to be complete by late fall.
