Women’s Resource Center to ‘rock against rape’

Photo of drum setThe Women’s Resource Center’s Victim Advocacy Services is jump-starting April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month with NIU Rocks Against Rape.

This free event will be held Wednesday, March 28, in the Holmes Student Center.

From 6 to 7 p.m., visitors to the Glidden Room can enjoy refreshments and a showcase of speakers from campus and the community who will discuss their services and how they advocate for those impacted by sexual assault.

NIU Rocks Against Rape takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. in Diversions Lounge. Featured artists are the Hasta Lumbago, Mathew Tembo and The Sam Hight Sextet.

As a nationwide event held annually in communities and on college campuses, Rocks Against Rape exhibits individual and group musical artists from the campus and community to instill awareness about sexual assault.
