Police issue ‘all clear’ at Barsema Hall

Update: Barsema Hall Bomb Threat
(2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31)

Following an evacuation and extensive investigation into the bomb threat at Barsema Hall, Northern Illinois University Department of Police and Public Safety has issued an “all clear.”

Classes at Barsema Hall, which houses the NIU College of Business, will resume beginning at 3 p.m., and students and faculty will have access to the building immediately.

At 10:36 a.m., the NIU Department of Police and Public Safety received the phone threat through its dispatch center. Barsema Hall was immediately evacuated, and a campus advisory was issued. The building remained closed while the investigation continued.

It is anticipated that all classes in Barsema Hall will resume at the time indicated above. However, as always, faculty have the option of cancelling classes for compelling reasons, but will need to notify students well in advance of exercising that option.

College of Business students with questions regarding class schedules should call the College of Business office at (815) 753-5000.

The NIU Department of Police and Public Safety continues to investigate reports of a bomb threat this morning at Barsema Hall. The building has been cleared of students and faculty and will remain closed while the investigation continues.

Northern Illinois University will continue to provide updates at NIUToday.info as new information becomes available.

NIU’s Department of Police and Public Safety is investigating reports of a bomb threat this morning at Barsema Hall.

University public safety personnel are currently at the scene, and the building has been evacuated.

The campus community is advised to stay clear of Barsema Hall while the investigation continues.
