NIU’s Kristin Hoffman was named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced Friday.
Hoffman captained the Huskie offense during NIU’s 2-0 weekend at home as she totaled 74 assists (12.33/set) and 24 digs (4.00/set).
In a 3-0 win over Kent State, the nation’s assists leader handed out 40 helpers and had 12 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. During NIU’s 3-0 win over 2010 MAC champion Ohio, Hoffman registered 34 assists and 12 digs for her fifth double-double
Hoffman, a senior from Batavia, Ill., maintains a 3.97 grade point average as a history major. This is the second time she has won the award, as she earned the honor Nov. 19, 2010. Hoffman is the first Huskie athlete to win the award this season.
NIU takes a season-high, seven-match winning streak on the road against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan this weekend. The Huskies (19-5, 8-2 MAC) matchup with EMU (19-6, 7-3 MAC) at 6 p.m. today and CMU (14-7, 7-3 MAC) at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
