Students: Serve as Northern Light Ambassadors

August 23, 2011

Northern Light Ambassadors logoThe Office of Student Academic Success and the Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning are launching Northern Light Ambassadors this fall.

The Northern Light Ambassadors program will provide each undergraduate college with an elite body of NIU’s students to assist with public relations, fund development, retention, engaged learning and special events for the university. The Northern Light Ambassadors program hopes to showcase the exciting programs and opportunities available at NIU by using dedicated and talented students who help maintain the high standards of NIU.

Each college will choose a small group of students to represent them throughout NIU’s campus, community and alumni. Students chosen for the program can expect to work closely alongside key faculty and staff in their college, connect with donors, as well as other duties. The Northern Light Ambassadors program acknowledges the significant contributions NIU’s students can make to the university, and wants to highlight their role in the further development of the institution.

Students applying must have a declared major, at least a 3.0 GPA, a minimum of sophomore standing and must be involved in engaged learning. Interested students can go to the OSEEL website for more information, or go to the online application.
