Huskies to wear, auction St. Patrick’s uniforms

March 14, 2011

St. Patrick's Day baseball capsThe Northern Illinois baseball team will display St. Patrick’s Day spirit Thursday, March 17, against the University of Illinois.

The Huskies will don special green jerseys and hats for the in-state matchup and then auction off the jerseys Sunday, March 27, at Fatty’s Pub & Grille.

NIU players initially will wear the unique uniforms against the Illini at Rent One Park in Marion, Ill. in a 7:30 p.m. (CT) contest. Ten days later, the Huskies will auction off the jerseys following a 1:05 p.m. home game versus Bowling Green.

The silent auction is set to take place at Fatty’s approximately 45 minutes after the Huskies-Falcons matchup. All proceeds from the event will benefit the NIU baseball program.

If the game against the Falcons is cancelled, the auction will begin at 3 p.m. All numbers from this year’s team will be available, and no names will be on the backs of the jerseys.

Any questions or concerns can be addressed by calling the NIU baseball office at (815) 753-0147.

The Huskies begin their spring break trip Tuesday, March 15, as they play six games in six days at three different locations. The trek begins with a noon game against North Dakota at St. Louis’ Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis, Mo.
