New event helps students ‘SEE’ DeKalb

August 27, 2010

Students new to NIU have enjoyed a wide variety of activities during their first week on campus. The Huskie Bash, a bonfire, a luau and ice cream socials are just a few of the events that have helped new students get acclimated to the fun and excitement of campus life.

On Thursday, many NIU students ventured off campus and into the local community for Huskies SEE DeKalb.

The inagural event provided students an opportunity to discover the many amenities that downtown DeKalb has to offer. Students attended a performance by the renowned NIU Steelband, participated in a scavenger hunt and even had a chance to meet NIU president John Peters and DeKalb Mayor Kris Povlsen.
